YOURS, GEORGINA, the beautiful folk/rock project of Naarm-based musician Georgie Currie, has returned with her first music release in over a year; a spirited new single in ‘KEEPERS’.
The latest from the talented songwriter serves as a beautiful moment of re-entry, and a poignant reminder of the insatiable pull that comes from letting oneself be immersed in YOURS, GEORGINA’s work. ‘KEEPERS’ aligns itself with YOURS, GEORGINA’s previous work – including 2024’s dynamic NOONLIGHT EP – but here, we see the artist stepping further into a songwriting territory that highlights intimacy and vulnerability in her storytelling.
‘KEEPERS’ was recorded by YOURS, GEORGINA at Collingwood’s Rolling Stock Recording Rooms with producer Renn Picard (The Northern Folk, JOTHI). Engineered by Andrew Robinson (The Teskey Brothers) and mastered by Adam Dempsey (Angie McMahon), the music is delivered with a rich and earthy feel; amplifying YOURS, GEORGINA’s strong vocals and the emotional impact behind them.
Of her latest track, the artist explains: “This song is about returning to the places and people who raised us, and remembering to savour fleeting moments of togetherness. I moved from Albury after finishing high school and as time passed and life changed, I travelled back less and less. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago when my grandfather was passing away that I truly took stock of where home still is for me.
In its essence, this song is a bittersweet acknowledgement of the brief time we are each here, and a promise to cherish the amount we are given.”
The release of ‘KEEPERS’ marks the beginning of a new creative arc for YOURS, GEORGINA – the lead up to her long-awaited debut album.
Having developed her own sound across years spent writing and touring under her own name and previous projects, YOURS, GEORGINA has created a powerful blend of brooding cinematic sounds without losing the folk-fuelled intimacy that marked earlier work.
Releasing music since 2021, YOURS, GEORGINA has received support across Australian community radio networks, as well as Triple J and Triple J Unearthed.
