The calm before the storm weaves its way through the Australian music industry as the countdown to BIGSOUND 2025 cracks single digits!
With one week to go, BIGSOUND HQ are scheduling into every gap with a handful of new sessions and acts added to the line up including the Sounds Like The Gold Coast (Tuesday, 6pm), Heavy Music Meet Up (Thursday, 4pm) and acts Good Sniff (VIC), Loose Content (VIC) and BIG NOTER (VIC) – the new punk-fuelled heavy project from keynote speaker BRIGGS, fresh from touring with artists like Tom Morello, Amyl and the Sniffers and Karnivool.
The secret (and not-so secret) things are now getting locked in! Amazon Music Sessions Up Late will betaking over The Prince Consort stage with a secret line up dropping two hours prior. Delegates and festival goers will receive notification of secret shows as well as any shows they’ve RSVPed to during BIGSOUND week via the Official BIGSOUND App – now available to download from both Apple and Android app stores.
The party line ups are rolling in. First up, Believe presentsBIGSOUND Afterdark promised us the future of electronic music and boy have they delivered with Rromarin, Hii Spirits, WILL K & HARLEY GIRL set to have festival goers partying late into the Wednesday evening.
Select Music have pulled out the big guns to celebrate their 20th Birthday with Aleksiah, Mudrat, Shady Nasty, Radium Dolls, Stella Donnelly, Teenage Joans and DJ sets from DZ Deathrays, The Jungle Giants and Kisschasy all set to play their Showcase Party.
NETTWERK are celebrating 40 years of music we love with a DJ set from Mel Blue at the BIGSOUND Vinyl Bar by Archie Rose. The infamous Official BIGSOUND Closing Party will this year be hosted at The Tivoli and boasts a killer line-up with 1tbsp, Harley Girl and Neesha Alexander set to see us through to the festival close on Thursday night.
Plus, did somebody say book signings? On the morning of Thursday 4 September, The Vinyl Bar will also be hosting Dave Roundtree of Blur for a public signing, and the Delegate Hub will host Darcus Beese after his keynote session on Wednesday 3 September. Hatchie is celebrating their return to BIGSOUND with a special DJ set aboard the BIGSOUND River Cruise.
With over 500 events, 138 speakers and 130 bands bringing to life more than 50 venues and 18 stages over three days, 2025 is gearing up to be BIGSOUND’s biggest year yet – transforming Brisbane’s mild-mid-week Fortitude Valley into a thriving arts precinct.
The general public are invited to enjoy the BIGSOUND atmosphere with public art and free programming supported by Brisbane City Council available throughout BIGSOUND.
The Brunswick Mall Stage is open to the public for free all day and night, for all ages, with a jam-packed line-up of local favourites, the official opening ceremony including a smoking ceremony, and a line-dancing workshop by Saddle Club. Also the Goolwal Garden (The Sound Garden), home of the Goolwal Goolwal Program is free daily until 6pm, featuring art exhibitions, workshops and panels.
LOOK UP, BIGSOUND!
This year the Valley Transformation team will ensure complete sensory immersion for attendees through high-impact visual installations as part of BIGSOUND IN Colour. This complete Valley take-over invites attendees to LOOK UP wherever they are during BIGSOUND to experience a wonderland festival-scape, inspired by the raucous energy of contemporary music and nightlife culture.
Minister for the Arts John-Paul Langbroek said BIGSOUND provides a platform for knowledge sharing and music business development, bringing together national and international music industry leaders, the local music industry and the broader community.
“BIGSOUND’s dynamic line up of live music performances, inspiring conversations and visual art activations will illuminate Fortitude Valley and shine a spotlight on Queensland’s vibrant music scene,” Minister Langbroek said.
“The Crisafulli Government’s investment in QMusic’s BIGSOUND, helps deliver on Queensland’s Time to Shine, a 10-year strategy for arts and culture, and boosts Queensland’s reputation as a key cultural destination by showcasing our talented artists to global audiences.”
Elsewhere, BIGSOUND attendees have ample opportunities to create connections that count, thanks to more than ten laneway meet up sessions including Beats Beyond The Binary, Regional and Remote Muso, Green Music Australia, Music For Screen, Community Radio and more.
A full schedule of Conversation Corners will take place across the hubs through BIGSOUND, offering an opportunity to talk shop with industry experts representing organisations including Support Act, Amplify Music Education, CBASS – Community Radio, AON and Let’s Go! Support Service, as well as leaders from Concord Music Publishing and Live Nation Australia across dedicated sessions on Wednesday and Thursday of BIGSOUND week.

New in 2025, the BIGSOUND Content House, presented by CLIPPED.TV and with Strategic Support from Tourism and Events Queensland, provides a hub for media and content creators to network, create, film and experience artist on artist interviews, workshops and takeovers.

Notably, TikTok will host their takeover of the Content House on Thursday 4 September, delivering a series of unmissable workshops and networking sessions for creators and media professionals alike. triple j will host a special Conversation Corner of their own at the Content House, offering unique insights into their work as the national youth broadcaster.
Content creators will also have the opportunity to win simply by showing us BIGSOUND through your own lens!
To be involved, all you need to do is create content that portrays your unique BIGSOUND experience; post it on Instagram or TikTok, tagging BIGSOUND and using the hashtag #BIGSOUND25. All tagged posts will be in the running to win their creator a $500 gift voucher from JBL to kick-start their ultimate creator set up.
