Through 2025, Newcastle’s CHLOE GILL has been consistently building upon her reputation as a powerhouse vocalist and songwriter, with tracks including ‘Something In The Winter’ and ‘Over Me’ repositioning her as one to watch.

Here, Gill returns with brand new music in the single titled ‘Why?’ – another fitting representation of the personal brand of songwriting that has landed Gill on the radars of many around the country. As she describes, ‘Why?’ was inspired by personal experiences, namely a time where Gill had tried to reconnect with people from her childhood. 

“I hadn’t seen some of them in 10+ years. I made a conscious effort to be open-minded and positive about meeting them at these later points in our lives. However, I quickly experienced their effort in excluding me and being cruel, and noticed how much they were still the same people: unchanged and unkind. I watched my energy drop and anxiety spike out of nowhere when I was around these people, and my self-worth was constantly disregarded by them, as well as the people around me who didn’t support me. For someone so strong, I felt so much irony during that time.

Why?’ stands as a declaration of self-worth, resilience, and choosing not to waste energy on those who don’t lift you up. I hope to continue to craft songs that speak from my heart – music that empowers, connects and resonates with listeners everywhere.” CHLOE GILL

For this song, Gill worked with co-producer Gareth Hudson (Hazy Cosmic Jive Studios), a process that Gill says helped deepen her skills as a songwriter and performer. Hudson’s production on ‘Why?’ elevates the emotional elements of the track, buoying Gill effortlessly as her words and music weave together.
