Having enjoyed a blistering year of shows and releases in 2025, Perth’s alt-rock powerhouse LATE 90s have set their sights on taking things to the next level this year, starting their 2026 chapter with new single ‘IVY’.

As their first drop for the year, ‘IVY’ strikes hard from the onset – an energetic romp that feels right in line with the direction LATE 90s are taking their music. It’s a sound that mixes sophistication in musicality with a gritty authenticity, and it is one that has propelled the four-piece onto more radars nationally in the last 12 months.

For ‘IVY’, the band recorded at Emerald Room Studios. As they explain, the single centres on the “idea of temptation”, drawing inspiration from the Poison Ivy character in the iconic film Batman.

Says Stephen Loreck“Zaac and I were talking about exploring different themes, and we landed on the idea of temptation — that feeling of doing something you know is wrong in the moment, being aware of the consequences, but doing it anyway.”

Adds Zaac Morgan“When we originally wrote the riff it was a lot slower and a metalcore vibe was more in mind. But we jammed it out and tried speeding it up, which felt a lot more like us. ‘Ivy’ was easily the quickest song musically I think we’ve put together. The tempo just felt right, and it made us all want to run through a wall. I think this song best imitates what we are as a live band. High energy, loud and passionate. Hopefully when people listen it makes them feel the same.”

Since LATE 90s debut in 2021, the group has been taking strides in cementing their status as one of the West Coast’s strongest voices in rock.
