Two years on from the release of their last collection of work – 2023’s Midnight Revelry – and Sydney indie duo LAHGO have grown exponentially, both as a live unit and as a studio partnership between Mel Bailey and Lee Denman.

Clever wordplay mixes confidently with cathartic arrangements, in Bailey and Denman’s songwriting, their chemistry is clear and as evidenced through their releases so far in 2025, LAHGO are operating at a great creative peak.

Today, the duo celebrates the release of their third EP, ‘No Love Lost, Right? ’Featuring singles ‘She’‘Bitter’‘Changing’, and latest single ‘The Wait Is Over’, the project is one of LAHGO’s most concise offerings to date.

The music offers great insight into how we all handle extreme emotional impact differently; there never is one right way to deal with rejection, self-doubt or identity crises. This EP handles these themes with honesty and vulnerability, while also facing this nuanced content with strength and a bold ambition that has become signature to LAHGO’s sound.

Music that stirs an instant emotional response, this is an EP that provides new fans a perfect gateway to one of Sydney’s most exciting bands. For longtime followers, no love lost, right? is a fitting moment of graduation; here, LAHGO navigates themes of heartache, undoing, identity and rebuilding of one’s self in their truest form.

“no love lost, right? is our raw, unapologetic dive into identity, rejection, and reclaiming power. Across six tracks, I wrestle with the chaos of being misunderstood, whether in love, the fight to be heard, or in the aftermath of betrayal. From the bittersweet goodbye of ‘The Wait Is Over’ to the femme fury of ‘S.O.M.D.’, this EP wasn’t about healing quietly, it’s about being messy, emotional and sometimes brutal. It’s me pushing back, speaking up, and taking up space without asking.” LAHGO, MEL BAILEY

Focus track ‘S.O.M.D’ is a highlight of the record, as Bailey brings personal struggles and memories to the studio. The song, beautifully built from the ground up, is an example of the personal and intimate lyricism, brought together with instrumentation that will have any live audience hooked.

“‘S.O.M.D.’ are the after thoughts of being in a toxic relationship. It’s everything you wish you would’ve said at the time but didn’t. Being so addicted and intoxicated to the wrong type of love is hard to break away from, but when you do, you come out of a kind of trance and you feel like your power has been restored. It’s about finally seeing the relationship for what it is and finding the courage to walk away from it.”
LAHGO, MEL BAILEY

Released alongside the EP is a music video for ‘S.O.M.D’, filmed and edited by the band themselves. As described by frontwoman Mel Bailey“We wanted the video for S.O.M.D. to feel as raw as the song itself, so we shot it all DIY at a friend’s apartment and around the neighbourhood. The story is me chasing down an ex who can’t face me. You’ll see how he hides and runs, but I’m not letting him off the hook.

There’s a line in the song, ‘I see you cower and hide,’ and that’s exactly the energy I wanted to capture. At its core, this track is about reclaiming your power, standing up for yourself, and saying you’re done with someone else’s bullshit. For me, it was also personal. I’d been in this place of feeling played, and writing this song was like flipping the script and saying, ‘Don’t make no mistake, your magic needs some new tricks.’ It’s cheeky, it’s witchy, and it’s me taking back what’s mine.”

LAHGO’s debut in 2022 was a strong moment of arrival: their fusion of anthemic indie rock music, coupled with soulful and clever lyricism put them on radars early and has led to sold out shows in their hometown, as well as lucrative support slots for artists including Don WestThe Terrys and more.

Their music has been gaining consistent momentum on community radio as well as triple j and Triple J Unearthed, while streaming numbers continue to climb courtesy of LAHGO’s fervent fanbase of over 41k monthly listeners and editorial support (Local Noise, The Local List and TURN UP AUS).
