Joel Leggett’s brand of storytelling beautifully balances personal insights with an open and heart-led musicality, easily making each song relatable and endearing to new and longtime listeners alike.

Throughout 2025, the Central Coast indie artist has been releasing music that amplifies his intent as songwriter and performer: in songs like ‘Should’ve Known Better’ and ‘Light In The Dark’, audiences have been given an insight into an artistry marked by clarity and purpose.

Leggett’s music brings vibrancy and texture to the indie space, adding to a great wave of Australian music currently enjoying a stronghold with audiences around the country and beyond. Returning with his new single ‘Other Side Of Town’, Leggett adds to a strong year of music and steps forward into what is set to be a fruitful Spring/Summer season.

Co-written with collaborator and friend Nathan Hawes (KESMAR), ‘Other Side Of Town’ saw Leggett leaning into the idea of navigating life and relationships the hard way. Sometimes the most important lessons we learn are the ones that we unfortunately have to experience via confrontation or struggle. ‘Other Side Town’ explores this with intimacy and nuance.

“‘Other Side of Town’ is about saying things you don’t really mean and wishing you could start over with someone. It taps into that angsty, adolescent feeling of learning lessons the hard way, when pride gets in the way, and running from conflict feels easier than facing it. It’s a reflection on growing up, making mistakes, and realising the value of honesty and second chances.” JOEL LEGGETT

‘Other Side Of Town’ is set to appear on Leggett’s forthcoming studio album, which will arrive as the artist’s fourth full-length project later this year. Reflective of the creativity he has been engaging in the studio and the road in recent years, the album is already shaping up to be one of Leggett’s most concise efforts to date.

Previous album Changing Currents having amassed over 13.2 million streams, with singles such as ‘Part of Me’ sitting at nearly 6 million streams on Spotify alone. Having played supporting slots in the past for the likes of San Cisco, The Dreggs, The Rions, Pacific Avenue, You Am I, The Terrys and many more, Leggett is anticipating a busy second half of 2025 as his album release nears ever closer.
