Punctuating what has been a busy and fruitful year of creativity, Melbourne indie-pop artist and songwriter GYPSY LEE releases her much anticipated new EP,  ON A MISSION FROM GOD AND GUCCI.

Driven by a bold approach to creating music that is unwavering in its individuality and scope, GYPSY LEE has presented a collection of songs that has captured an incredibly formative period of her life. Stepping further into young adulthood, ON A MISSION FROM GOD AND GUCCI is an EP of empowerment, self-discovery and assurance that any hurdles are able to, and can be, overcome.

The four tracks range from the baroque but booming Snitches, to the tongue-in-cheek energy of What Doesn’t Kill You Costs A Lot in Therapy. Recent single I Hope You Like Crazy Girls, featuring Evie Irie has already received support from triple j and Unearthed radio, alongside editorial playlist additions on Spotify and Apple Music. Closing the record is feature track Scene of the Crime/Psychedelic Summer Nights – showcasing tender but towering vocals before bringing the EP to its most cinematic and ambitious conclusion.

Of making the EP, GYPSY LEE describes the experience as being a journey, reflecting on how the music has matured as she has done in recent years.

“These songs are the most honest thoughts in my head and feelings from my heart,” Gypsy Lee says.

“A total representation of where I am in life right now as a 22 year old navigating life. There’s definitely a fair share of unhingedness which I love, but throughout the EP, I’m especially proud of the underlying deepness and meaning of each lyric and melody.”

She says the EP’s title “just fell into my hands on the way to a funeral.”

“I’m definitely the kind of girl that believes everything happens for a reason… or at least I try to. I liked the idea that making this EP was almost a calling, maybe that my purpose this lifetime is to write and share truths people can resonate with. And doing it with style.”

Produced by and Co-written with Andrew Lowden (Thelma Plum, Matt Corby), On A Mission From God And Gucci brings together a horde of creative talent to realise GYPSY LEE’s vision, capturing the humour, vulnerability and self-assurance at the heart of the record.

To celebrate the release of ‘On A Mission From God And Gucci’, Gypsy will be playing a pair of very special shows in Sydney and Melbourne – on the 8th and 14th of October respectively. Support to be announced, more information on the shows below.
