Having teased a potential new chapter already in 2025 with singles ‘Better Off’ and ‘LCD’, one of WA indie’s finest – Ghost Care – have now revealed a brand new EP project is on the way. Titled Oh Positive, the EP is the first full record of new music from Ghost Care since 2022’s Pedal To The Metal EP.
Today, the band shares a new single that propels them further into this fun creative arc, with ‘Waiting By The Phone’ aligning with the band’s strong moves forward.
Having spent a large part of the last few years touring and refining their core sound, it’s no surprise that a track like ‘Waiting By The Phone’ feels primed for live performance.
Tight and expertly delivered, the song came together with Ghost Care linking up with collaborators Dave Parkin (Spacey Jane, South Summit) and Joe Carra (Amyl and The Sniffers, Pond) on production and mastering.
Of the song, Ghost Care’s Beau Torrance explains, “This song is lyrically inspired by the greatest songwriter Bob Dylan, and from Peter, Paul and Mary, so we decided to take an old school kind of influence and bring it into what we are doing today.
“We left the meaning pretty open to interpretation in this one and just focused on the fun, the anticipation of meeting someone new and hanging around only to find out you’ve just wasted your time with them. This song is a bit of fun and being able to brush it off.” GHOST CARE, BEAU TORRANCE
The Oh Positive EP is set for release Thursday October 16th, but in the lead up to its final reveal, Ghost Care will be performing a number of shows to give fans more insights into how their new record has impacted them as a live band.
The trio, already beloved on the West Coast, have emerged as one of the country’s exciting new forces in indie; more audiences around Australia have been able to experience their dynamic presence via their successful headline tour as well as Live Nation ONES TO WATCH showcase earlier this year, and support tours for artists including Teenage Dads, The VANNS, Sly Withers and Spacey Jane.
With over 1.5 million streams to their name, Ghost Care are continuing a prolific rise in 2025 – ‘Waiting By The Phone’ is simply another prime example of their talent and sense of fun.
