Halloween? Here we come. Australia’s alt pop It-Girl Evie Irie has dropped her latest single ‘Zombie Party’ just in time for the spooky season.

A lively dance-floor filler, the track was inspired by the lifelessness Evie has noted across socialite parties in LA — where, alongside her home in NSW, she spends half her time these days. ‘Zombie Party’ is Evie’s expression of boredom and aversion to these events, and to those who frequent them, often akin to the undead;

“I split my time between Sydney and LA, and I’ve ended up at some ridiculously pretentious parties. The latest was this Fourth of July thing in the Hollywood Hills, ‘extremely exclusive’ guest list, massive mansion, all of it. And honestly? Not my vibe at all. I want unapologetic dancing, sweating through my clothes, maybe a nip slip, jumping in the pool fully dressed. I want chaos and actual joy.

That party felt so soulless and lifeless, like there was nothing real happening. But I’ve also been to those insane parties that make you feel alive, and those are the ones that inspire me to make music you can dance to all night. ‘Zombie Party’ is basically about how those stereotypical socialite parties can feel like you’re surrounded by actual zombies, but with the energy of the best nights of my life.”  EVIE IRIE

Working on the vibrant and playful new track with friend and ARIA Award-winning producer Xavier Dunn (Pitbull, Peking Duk, Jack River, Hayden James) Evie details her goal to produce a playful Halloween-inspired hit, and how the duo ultimately reached a place that balanced the right amount tasteful, camp, and unabashedly fun;

“I wrote ‘Zombie Party’ with one of my favorite Australian collaborators, Xavier Dunn, and our vision was to make a new-age, non-cringy, spooky season song. Like always, me and Xavier had the most fun working on this record… full of laughs, vibes and silly lyrics that end up being scrapped. It was such a lighthearted day and the melody was stuck in my head for weeks. I knew I needed to release it during the right season and here we are!”  EVIE IRIE

Since breaking into the scene in 2019, Evie Irie has steadily built on her reputation as one of the brightest young stars in this generation of Australian pop music.

She has played sold out headline shows around the world, as well as supporting the likes of BastilleAmy Shark and Sigrid. Most recently, Evie has undertaken a national tour of the US (spanning 23 cities) in support of friend and fellow artist Mehro, and will soon be picking back up where the fun left off, joining him in 15 countries across Europe from this November.
