Newcastle artist Chloe Gill is stepping into a defining new chapter with the release of her debut album, I HAVE A HABIT OF DREAMING — a deeply personal and sonically rich addition to Australian music.

Blending country pop, indie and folk-rock influences, the ten-track record brings together intimate storytelling and expansive soundscapes.

Featuring singles like ‘Pushing Punishment’, ‘Down The Drain’, ‘Why?’, ‘Over Me’ and ‘Something In the Winter’, the album marks a major milestone for an artist steadily carving out her place in Australian music.

A Personal Journey Through Music

At the heart of I HAVE A HABIT OF DREAMING is Chloe Gill’s exploration of growth, identity and emotional resilience. The album reflects her experience navigating adulthood alongside a late ADHD diagnosis — a journey that has shaped both her songwriting and her perspective.

“My goal with this project is not only for neurodivergent people, but for anyone who has ever felt different,” Chloe explains. “It’s about leading your own life, dreaming your own dreams and bringing them to life.”

That message resonates strongly throughout the album, with each track offering moments of vulnerability, self-reflection and ultimately, self-acceptance. It’s this emotional honesty that continues to define some of the most compelling releases within Australian music today.

Crafting the Sound

Recorded with Newcastle producer Gareth Hudson at Hazy Cosmic Jive Studios, the album features a collaborative spirit that elevates its storytelling. Contributions from musicians including Rachel Pogson, Eli Love, Brandon Yarnold, Jamie Pollock and Jesse O’Neill create a textured musical backdrop that allows Chloe’s lyricism to shine.

The result is a record that feels both polished and deeply human — balancing warmth and clarity with moments of introspection. It’s a sound that reflects the evolving landscape of Australian music, where genre boundaries are increasingly fluid and storytelling remains central.

Finding Strength in Vulnerability

While I HAVE A HABIT OF DREAMING captures a period of significant personal change — from navigating diagnosis to major life transitions — it ultimately stands as a hopeful and empowering body of work.

“Life doesn’t stop just because you’re making an album,” Chloe says. “It really helped me use the album as an outlet for my emotions, my fears, and my desire for understanding myself.”

That openness gives the record its strength. It invites listeners into Chloe’s world while offering a sense of connection and reassurance — something that continues to resonate strongly across Australian music audiences.

A Promising Debut

With I HAVE A HABIT OF DREAMING, Chloe Gill delivers a debut that is both introspective and expansive — a record that highlights her strength as a songwriter and her ability to connect through honesty.

For listeners following the next wave of Australian music, this is an album that offers not just beautiful melodies, but a meaningful reminder: to embrace who you are, to move through life with intention, and to keep dreaming.

As artists like Chloe Gill continue to emerge, the role of Australian music PR and experienced Australian music publicists remains an important part of the ecosystem supporting independent releases. Thoughtful campaigns help ensure albums like I HAVE A HABIT OF DREAMING reach the audiences who need them most.
