10 years on from the release of the original track, Bree Tranter has released an EDM remix of her breakthrough single ‘Tuesday Fresh Cuts’, as reimagined by the one and only Matt Corby.
Working with her friend and longtime collaborator Matt – who also played bass on the original recording a decade ago – on the release, Bree celebrates her creative journey of the past ten years by putting a new spin on the track which served as a catalyst for so much of it.
First emerging into the scene as a vocalist, keyboardist & flutist for acclaimed indie/folk band The Middle East in the mid 2000s, Bree Tranter has gone on to flourish in her own solo ventures (releasing her debut album Another Night On Earth in 2016), as well as being an esteemed session musician, collaborating with the likes of Passenger, Thelma Plum and more.
Her music has been featured in television series such as Lovesick, Queen Sugar, and Five Bedrooms. She has also composed original scores for three short films: Aftershock, Happy Anniversary, and Dragon’s Breath.
Now, Bree returns to her roots, working with one of her earliest collaborators on one of her earliest songs, and bringing fresh eyes to the single which, sitting at over 6.5 million streams on Spotify alone, is undoubtedly among her most revered musical accomplishments.
Kicking things up a notch with a punchy shift in genre, incorporating exciting new electronic textures and emphasising the song’s undeniable groove for a more dance-oriented listening experience, the new version of ‘Tuesday Fresh Cuts’ arrives as a milestone release set to take on a whole new life of its own. Expanding on the decision on revisit the early single, Tranter said:
“Tuesday Fresh Cuts has always been about growth, reflection, and the messy beauty of struggling with the inner thoughts of the mind. When I wrote it in my mid-twenties, I was trying to figure myself out—pouring everything into music with my best friends, but still struggling to find happiness… Ten years on, the song still feels alive. It carries the voice of who I was, but also who I’ve become. This remix celebrates that journey and breathes new energy into it.” BREE TRANTER
Fellow beloved Aussie singer-songwriter Matt Corby, who has won the hearts of listeners across the country and the globe, earning himself multiple ARIA awards and maintaining well over 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify, excitedly undertook and triumphed in the task of executing the remix. He says, of the release:
“For me, Tuesday Fresh Cuts already had this emotional intensity to it, so I didn’t want to lose that. I tried to reimagine it through the lens of the music Bree and I both love—something hypnotic, pulsing, and immersive, while keeping the soul of the original intact. The remix is about pushing that emotion into a new space, where people can feel it differently, maybe even on a dance floor.” MATT CORBY
